Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS) is a well-established wildfire consultant and federal agency wildfire suppression contractor and a Civil/Environmental Engineering Firm and Contractor.  Our mix of professional and contracting capabilities allows us to perform projects and assignments from wildfire suppression and pre-suppression to engineering design, permitting, reporting & field services.  Our client list includes property owners, state and federal agencies (including United States Forest Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Bureau of Land Management) and private clients ranging from regional corporations to Fortune 100 companies.

WDS Wildfire personnel hold a wide range of Federal Wildfire Training Certificates that represent hundreds to thousands of hours of training with our supervisors holding titles, in part, or all of the following Incident Command System Positions:

Division Group Supervisor Engine Boss
Task Force Leader Class C and B Sawyer/Faller (Class C is highest)
Strike Team Leader – Engines Firing Boss
Strike Team Leader – Crew Squad Boss
Crew Boss (20 person)

Key Personnel Experience

Short list of key personnel experience includes the following:

  • Chief of Operations: 40-years wildfire and emergency services experience.  A former USFS Fire and Prescribed Fire Manager, with decades of experience in wildfire operations positions such as: Incident Commander, Division Supervisor, Strike Team Leader, Hotshot Crew Superintendent, Engine Boss and Suppression Crew Foreman and is a Fire & Fuels Management Specialist.  He was awarded The U.S. Department of Agricultures Superior Service Award for excellence in fire management.
  • Program Manager: Civil Engineer, P.E., 20-years including Civil/Env. Engineering, Emergency Response Manager/Responder, Construction Management and Corporate Health and Safety Administration.
  • Design Engineer: Civil Engineer P.E., 22-years including Civil Engineering with emphasis in water pumping systems design and installation.
  • Engine Crews: Engine Boss and advanced firefighters –10 years minimum combined experience, emergency services, wildfire suppression, and fuel mitigation.
