Wildfire Defense Systems (WDS) is a national leader in private wildfire services, combining professional wildfire consulting with federally-certified emergency response wildfire suppression services. Founded in 2001 for U.S. Forest Service initial attack assignments, the company added professional services support in 2005 and in 2008 initiated its insurer programs for comprehensive wildfire loss prevention.
WDS covers a 21-state service region with highly-experienced personnel, a fleet of wildland engines, and an inventory of wildfire suppression and structure protection equipment and materials. Our mix of professional management and field operation expertise allows us to perform projects and assignments from design and implementation of comprehensive wildfire programs, including property risk analysis and reporting, to wildfire suppression and structure protection. The WDS client list includes state and federal agencies, regional corporations, utility corporations, and Fortune 100 and Fortune 500 companies.
We are excited to announce the upcoming relocation and expansion of our current WDS Operations Center. With the announcement, we are officially designating the Bozeman, MT office our Corporate Headquarters while our Red Lodge, MT office will be designated our Home Office.

The following key personnel represent the most qualified individuals who are supported by another 60+ WDS personnel, including mid-level managers, field wildfire officers, operations center/GIS specialists, IT and security specialists, call center technicians, editors and technical writers, firefighters, and WDS subcontractors. This combination of professional services and wildfire operations continues to be unique and has taken the company from four wildland engines to where it is today with insurer services operations in 21 states with a combined engine capacity of 82 wildland engines.
David is the CEO/Founder of Wildfire Defense Systems with more than 29 years of experience in environmental engineering and wildfire/hazardous materials risk management. A nationally recognized expert in insurer wildfire risk management and loss
Leland has 30 years of experience in the technology arena with 15 of those years serving as a C-Level executive within the insurance industry.
Glen is a former US Forest Service Wildfire Officer and currently qualified as a Federal Type 2 Incident Commander with over 36 years of experience in federal natural resource stewardship, federal wildfire management, and public relations.
Carson has extensive architectural design and construction project management experience and spent many years serving as an emergency management volunteer with experience as a Firefighter, EMT, Search and Rescue technician, and 911 Disaster Response team leader.
Eric has 25 years of wildland fire experience and is a former Station Foreman of a multiagency fire station with state, county, and federal resources. He is currently qualified as an ICT3, Task Force Leader, Strike Team Leader, Engine Boss, Crew Boss, and Prescribed Fire Burn Boss.
Nick has over 23 years of experience in fire suppression and emergency management. Nick’s experience includes a multitude of qualifications including every fire department capacity from firefighter to Fire Chief in Colorado.
Jami has 12 years of experience in public service and private sector consulting for land use planning. Jami also has 10 years in wildland fire response with a focus in planning and logistics, fuels management and fire mitigation in the wildland urban interface.
